How to Give Your Accountant Access to QuickBooks Online
QuickBooks Online has a dedicated accountant invite, so your accountant or bookkeeper gets the access they need with their own login, and it doesn't use one of your regular user seats.
Step by step
- 1
Open Manage users in QuickBooks Online
Sign in as the admin, click the Settings gear, then choose Manage users.
- 2
Go to the Accountants tab
Open the Accountants (or Accounting firms) tab.
- 3
Enter your accountant's email
Type your accountant's email address and click Invite.
- 4
They accept the invite
Your accountant accepts from their own QuickBooks Online Accountant login. Their status changes from Invited to Active.
Choosing the right access level
Accountant users get the tools a firm needs (including the accountant toolbox) without you sharing admin credentials. You can invite up to two accountant firms on most plans.
Doing this for every platform, on every client?
That's the chase AutoStack ends. One branded link requests access to QuickBooks Online and the rest of your stack at the right permission level, tracked as state, with no password emails.

Do I have to share my QuickBooks password with my accountant?
No. Use the Accountants tab to invite them by email. They sign in with their own QuickBooks Online Accountant account.
Does an accountant user count against my user limit?
No. Accountant firm users are separate from your regular user seats in QuickBooks Online.
How do I remove my accountant's access?
In Manage users on the Accountants tab, select the firm and remove them. Access ends immediately.
